I LOVE strawberries.
And I really love strawberry jam.
But the sugar always bothered me.
I never understood why you had to make a product that’s 50% pure sugar when there surely was a better and healthier way.
And this post is here to show you the better way to make healthy and completely guilt-free strawberry jam.
How To Make Sugar- & Gelatin-Free Strawberry Jam
This is a very short recipe.
It literally has only 3 ingredients and it’s incredibly easy to make this sugar- & gelatin-free strawberry jam.
The only ingredients you need to make this strawberry jam are: (you can find the exact amounts of everything in the recipe card at the end of the post)
☞ frozen strawberries
☞ chia seeds
☞ a granulated sweetener of your choice, I highly recommend using erythritol
I assume you can also use fresh strawberries, but I have never tried using fresh ones.
That’s why I can’t give you any specific recommendations.
I prefer using frozen strawberries because the nutritional value of frozen produce is almost always higher than that of fresh produce.
That’s because frozen produce is harvested at the peak of its ripeness – where the vitamins and minerals are at it’s highest.
Frozen produce is also almost always the cheaper option and available around the year.
Chia seeds: high in fiber & micronutrients
Incorparating chia seeds in any diet is a good idea.
But it can be especially useful when you’re on a low carb diet.
Getting enough fiber when you’re on a low carb diet can be quite a challenge.
These little seeds are loaded with fiber and other micronutrients, making them a super easy way to add soluble fiber into your diet!
Because of their ability to absorb high amounts of water they are also a healthy & vegan alternative for gelatin!
Adding the right amount of chia seeds to your strawberry jam will ensure a delicious, jam-like consistency.
Instructions:
Find yourself a non-sticking small pot and add your frozen strawberries.
Set your stove to low/medium heat.
Make sure that your strawberries don’t boil violently, they should slowly simmer for a longer period of time instead.
Stir the strawberries every 5-10 minutes or so minutes.
Let your strawberries simmer for about 20-30 min.
The strawberries should be broken down by then and they should have a thick consistency.
Puree your strawberries with a hand blender and add your chia seeds as well as your sweetener.
Fill your strawberry chia jam into a jar and store them in your fridge.
You should wait at least 2 hours before eating your jam because the chia seeds need to absorb enough liquid before they are eaten. (If you eat “raw” chia seeds, it can upset your stomach.)
My favorite way to eat this strawberry chia jam is by adding it to yogurt and making myself a natural and fresh strawberry yogurt.
You can store the jam for up to a week in your fridge.
Because it doesn’t contain any sugar it will go bad earlier than “normal” jam and should be consumed quickly.
This sugar-free, low carb strawberry chia jam is a dream come true for anyone who is on a low carb diet! A natural & healthy replacement for highly processed strawberry jam from the store!
Add all of the frozen strawberries to a small non-sticking pot and set your stove to low/medium heat.
Let the strawberries simmer for about 20-30 min.
Make sure to stir the strawberries every few minutes to avoid burning them.
After about 20-30 min, take the strawberries off the stove and puree them with a hand blender.
Add the chia seeds and the erythritol and mix everything up.
Add the finished strawberry chia jam to a jar and store in the fridge for up to a week.

You’re right!
I have no idea what happened there, to be honest – sorry about the confusion!
I used to cook them for about an hour but I realized that it doesn’t have to be that long.
The consistency will be great after approx. 20-30 min. 🙂
Sorry again!
