Different varieties of keto milkshakes have become a staple in our house in the last few weeks.
Since it’s getting warmer and warmer, I’m constantly on the hunt for new refreshing & keto-friendly summer treats.
And this keto strawberry milkshake definitely checks the boxes:
it’ll cool you down on hot summer days and it will also satisfy your sweet cravings.
I already published a few other keto milkshakes, one of my favorites is this keto vanilla milkshake but of course, I also had to make a keto strawberry milkshake.
Strawberries are my big weakness and I could eat them all day, but because I try to stay in ketosis most of the time, I limit my strawberry intake.
This usually works extremely well as a small amount of strawberries fits easily within my carb count and doesn’t affect my ketosis state and while still satisfying my cravings for strawberries.
So if you’re just as fond of strawberries as I am but you’re on the keto diet, don’t worry!
This keto friendly strawberry milkshake will leave you full and refreshed while adding about 7,1g net carbs to your carb count!
Granted, that’s quite a bit but it can easily fit into your keto day if you adjust your remaining carbs accordingly.
KETO STRAWBERRY MILKSHAKE INGREDIENTS:
This section is where I go a bit more in-depth about the ingredients you’ll need for this recipe. ☺️
(You can find the exact amounts needed on the recipe card that’s embedded below this section!)
unsweetened almond milk will be the base of our recipe.
Almond milk is incredibly low carb (Only about 0.2g/100g) and doesn’t have a strong taste of its own which makes it perfect for recipes like this.
I recommend adding heavy cream as well, as the contained fat enhances the flavor and makes the whole recipe feel more “milkshake-like”.
I usually use frozen strawberries because I always have them at home and if you use frozen strawberries, you don’t need to add extra ice cubes into your milkshake.
But it’ll work just as well with fresh strawberries + ice cubes, if you don’t have frozen strawberries at home!
Probably one of the few times in my life where I don’t recommend erythritol.
(If this is your first time on my blog you should know that I’m pretty religious about how much I love erythritol for my other sweet recipes).
But erythritol doesn’t solve well in water and is thus not well suited for this recipe.
It’ll just accumulate at the bottom and that’s not a good milkshake experience.
Instead, I recommend a liquid sweetener of your choice – everything you enjoy is fine here.
I personally don’t like liquid stevia as I’m one of those unfortunate souls who can taste the aftertaste pretty badly, so I went for a sucralose-based sweetener.
I also didn’t give any specific recommendations regarding the amounts needed of the liquid sweetener because they vary so much from brand to brand and sweetener to sweetener.
If you use a sucralose-based sweetener you probably only need a few drops whereas other products could require several tsp.
Read the recommendations on the backside of the specific product you’ll use to determine how much sweetener to use.
